Installing Vmware Tools on RedHat/CentOS 6, the easy way!
Go to http://packages.vmware.com/tools/esx/index.html and search for the correct ESX and Linux version.
For example, for vmware 5.1 and RedHat/CentOS 6, install the repo. (cfr. http://packages.vmware.com/tools/esx/5.1/repos/index.html)
# yum install http://packages.vmware.com/tools/esx/5.1/repos/vmware-tools-repo-RHEL6-9.0.0-2.x86_64.rpm
Now you can search for vmware packages :
# yum search vmware
And install the VMware tools for a cli-only system :
# yum -y install vmware-tools-esx-nox
In the vSphere client, the VMware Tools should show up as Installed almost immediately.
